Coffee, conversation, community.
On Friday, December 12, from 9 to 11 AM, community members are invited to stop by Summit Coffee in Ballantyne for Coffee with a Cop. It’s a simple setup: neighbors, officers, and a couple of unscripted hours to talk about the things that matter, or say hello.
Whether you’re new to the area or have spent years walking these streets, this monthly gathering offers space for residents to connect with the officers who serve our community. No lectures, no formal agenda—just people meeting face to face.

Why This Matters
Hyperlocal connection isn’t built overnight. It comes from showing up to the small things—the unhurried conversations, the familiar faces, the opportunities to be seen and heard. Coffee with a Cop is exactly that: a monthly reminder that community grows stronger when people share the same table, even briefly.

About the Author
Nell Thomas writes for Strolling Ballantyne and The Charlotte Mercury, where her reporting style is fueled almost entirely by lattes from the Einstein Bros. Bagels in Ballantyne. If you require a recommendation: the vanilla cold foam pairs suspiciously well with a morning bagel, and the staff has her order memorized in a way that suggests concern. When Nell isn’t writing, she’s wandering Ballantyne with a notebook full of half-legible observations and a firm belief that local journalism tastes better with cream.
