Charlotte Rescue Cats and Dogs Wait in Foster Homes

Catering To Cats & Dogs has no shelter building. It can care for 70 to 80 cats and 90 to 100 dogs at a time, all in foster homes, and every new foster home lets the rescue take another animal out of a shelter.

A Charlotte rescue with no shelter building is looking for adopters, fosters, volunteers and donors.

Catering To Cats & Dogs, known as C2CND, has helped homeless animals across the greater Charlotte area since 2008. The volunteer-run nonprofit began with just 10 cats. It has grown into a foster-based rescue that can have 70 to 80 cats and 90 to 100 dogs in its care at any given time, with even more arriving during busy kitten and puppy season.

Its animals live in foster homes, where they get care, attention and a chance to become comfortable in a home while they wait for adoption. Many are pulled from area animal control facilities when they are at risk of euthanasia. The rescue provides necessary medical care and makes sure its animals are spayed or neutered, before adoption or afterward at the appropriate age.

Each foster home lets the rescue take another animal out of a shelter, so fostering can make room to save another life.

There are four ways to help:

  • Adopt. Give a deserving cat or dog a family and home of its own.
  • Foster. Give an animal a temporary home while C2CND looks for the right adopter.
  • Volunteer. Help with adoption events, animal transportation, fundraising and other needs.
  • Donate. Contributions help cover veterinary care, food, supplies and other costs of caring for rescued animals.

For families who are ready to add four paws, there are plenty of hopeful candidates, from playful puppies and kittens to adult pets looking for a second chance. Learn more about getting involved at c2cnd.org.

Perhaps next month's Precious Pet is already waiting for you.
