The cover belongs to the neighbors who turn BCC pink every fall. This month's Meet Your Neighbors goes behind the Pink Bow Campaign, the network of more than 20 street captains, some volunteering for over a decade, who line the streets with bows every September as a visual reminder for women in the community to schedule their annual mammograms. If you followed our July piece on NothingPink, this is the neighborhood side of the same fight.
A few of the stories worth turning to first.
Precious Pets this month are Bruno and Benji, two German shepherds you may have spotted in Green Bay Packers gear or cheering on England during the World Cup. Making a Difference profiles La Paz Global and its Let's Rock benefit, which raised more than $22,000 this year to connect Charlotte and coastal Costa Rica through education. And if you have been meaning to get out and meet people, the issue previews Stroll Into Wellness and the monthly Coffee with a Cop gatherings with CMPD.
