Coffee with a Cop is a standing invitation. Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department spend a couple of hours at Summit Coffee on Conlan Circle, and anyone who lives nearby can turn up and talk to them.
On Friday, September 25, there will also be birria.
Birria is meat, usually beef, slow-cooked in chiles until it shreds, and it often arrives as a taco you dip back into the cooking broth. It is not ordinary nine-in-the-morning food.
Tacos Las Catrina's, a birria taco truck based in Monroe, is parking outside the shop for the morning, and lists birria first among the things it makes. Brynn Dombroski, the N2 Company area director who organizes the gatherings, booked it.
Tacos run $1 to $3, quesadillas $10 to $12, and burritos $12 to $14.
The rest is what it always is. No agenda, no speeches, no sign-up. Officers and neighbors connecting over coffee, building a stronger community together.
