"Wellness" can mean nearly anything these days, which is usually my problem with wellness events. Next Thursday's has a room you can actually picture.

Stroll Into Wellness comes to the Stephenson Room at Ballantyne Country Club on Thursday, September 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. It is free and open to all, hosted by this magazine. An RSVP by Tuesday, September 1, helps the team plan the room, but nobody will be checking names at the door. Come either way.

Here is some of who will be in the room. Le Petit Spa, a name Sip and Stroll regulars will remember from the very first one. The Glow Up Laser Spa, which readers met in our July issue. MUSC Health will have a table, and so will Back to Independence Rehab, which focuses on staying healthy and independent as you age. King Tut Chiropractic is coming, along with The Muscle Engineer, a mobile massage practice, and Carolina Speech & Myo. And on the everyday side of feeling good: smoothie bowls from Palm Berries South Charlotte, healthy cooking from Taste Bud Kitchens, and Bonded Charlotte's permanent jewelry. That is a sample, not the roster, and a couple of businesses are adding raffle giveaways on top.

The room comes with music, light refreshments, raffles, door prizes and a cash bar, as promised when the date was first announced. The format is simple: wander, ask the question you have been saving about sleep or knees or skin, and move to the next table.

If this sounds like a formula, it is, and it works. Sip and Stroll brought more than 300 neighbors to the club's event lawn in May, Mahjong Night filled tables at Libretto's Pizzeria in June, and this is the third one of the year. One room, local businesses, no ticket price.

The details

Thursday, 6 o'clock, the Stephenson Room. Bring a neighbor.
