Partner Spotlight: a paid placement by a neighborhood business, not editorial coverage.
An Army veteran and former police officer built a roofing company where the owner does every inspection himself.
Not every roof needs an insurance claim, says Nick Stewart, who owns EverPeak Roofing. Sometimes there is no storm damage at all, and he says knowing that keeps homeowners from filing claims against their policies that they do not need.
Stewart handles both kinds of work, insurance claims and projects homeowners pay for out of pocket. And he handles them himself. Every inspection and every estimate is his, and he says a homeowner who calls will never be passed off to someone else.
"Communication is key and it comes to and from me directly," he says.
Stewart served in the U.S. Army and then as a police officer before he went into roofing. He worked for large roofing companies in the area first. Then, by his account, he saw where he could make a bigger difference on his own, and he started EverPeak, a veteran-owned company, to bring what he calls true honesty and integrity to an industry that sometimes gets a bad name. He describes it as his way of continuing to serve his community.
Stewart grew up in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. He was stationed at Fort Bragg on active duty, which is where he met his wife, Sarah, and the couple has been back in the Charlotte area since 2020. He is also an assistant football coach at Marvin Ridge High School.
His advice is simple: before you make any decision about your roof, get it inspected. His inspections cost nothing, he says, and come with an honest assessment.
The moment he is proudest of, he says, is launching the company, "because every homeowner gets a white glove treatment from me directly."
