Partner Spotlight: a paid placement by a neighborhood business, not editorial coverage.
Two couples saw porch pumpkin decorating catching on in other cities and asked why Charlotte did not have it.
Pumpkin Patch Patios started with a question between friends. "We saw pumpkin porch decorating taking off in other cities and thought, 'Why doesn't Charlotte have this?'" its owners say.
The owners are two husband-and-wife teams, McCaulley and Drew Patterson and Caroline and Jake Meinzer, longtime friends who call the Charlotte area home. "Our friendship is really at the heart of the business," they say. What began as an idea between the four of them now involves both families.
The business does the fall decorating so the client does not have to. As the owners describe it, a client chooses a package and the team takes it from there: sourcing the pumpkins, delivering everything and designing the display on site. Each porch is styled to suit the space, using a mix of specialty pumpkins, gourds, hay bales and other seasonal touches.
Besides family front porches, they decorate schools, local businesses and country clubs around Charlotte.
"Many of our clients return year after year, and that is the biggest compliment we could receive," they say.
Their advice for anyone decorating with real pumpkins is about where you put them. Pumpkins last much longer in a shaded, dry spot, and off grass or mulch whenever possible. "With the right placement and a little care, a beautiful pumpkin display can last throughout the fall season," they say.
They say their 2026 season may be wrapping up, and they hope readers will follow along and keep them in mind for fall 2027.
