Partner Spotlight: a paid placement by a neighborhood business, not editorial coverage.

Two partners took on an established brand and set out to make it feel local. Their first piece of advice: do not wait for a leak.

Do not wait until you have a leak to have your roof looked at. That is the first piece of advice from Nathan Grimm, who owns Storm Guard of Charlotte with Tim Weber. Small problems are usually much easier and less expensive to fix before they turn into bigger ones. And when you do call someone, he says, make sure they will explain what they see, show you photos and give you options.

The business handles roofing, siding, gutters, windows and other exterior work for homeowners. Both were ready for a new chapter, Grimm says, and wanted to build something locally that they could put their names behind. What drew them to Storm Guard was the chance to take an established brand and make the Charlotte business feel personal, dependable and rooted in the community.

"From the beginning, our focus has been pretty simple," Grimm says. "Take care of people, communicate well, do what we say we are going to do and make sure homeowners feel comfortable with the process from start to finish."

Grimm grew up in Southwest Florida and Weber in Indiana. Both have been part of the Charlotte area for years, and Grimm says working in the same communities where they live and raise their families makes the work feel more personal. Grimm and his wife, Ashley, have three children. The two partners are building a local team around them, with people in sales, production and operations.

The feedback he values most, Grimm says, is when a homeowner tells them the process was easier than expected. "When someone tells us, 'You kept us informed, did what you said you would do and made this simple,' that means a lot," he says. "For Tim and me, those moments are a reminder that the way we treat people matters just as much as the finished project."

Storm Guard of Charlotte is locally owned, and Grimm says the goal is to be more than the company you call when something goes wrong: a trusted resource for your home, whether that means roofing, windows, siding, gutters or just an honest opinion when you are not sure what you need.
